Posada Roger – Un auténtico rincón Vallartense!.
Durante un gran momento del puerto al inicio de los 70’s, Rogelio [Roger] García Valdez, fundador de Posada Roger, decide aventurarse a construir una pequeña posada con sencillas habitaciones y baños comunes, en lo que hoy se conoce como la zona romántica del viejo Vallarta, sobre la calle de Basilio Badillo. En aquella época, más que como un hotel, el lugar era conocido por los snaks, sándwiches y café que Rogelio también vendía a los que por ahí pasaban, originando que el lugar pronto se convirtiera en un punto de reunión casual y muy divertido para encontrarse con los amigos.
Para 1975, Federico García llega de Estados Unidos con el deseo de invertir en el puerto y decide hacerlo en el negocio de su hermano Rogelio. Entonces se adquiere el terreno adjunto donde ahora se localiza el muy conocido restaurante “Fredy`s Tucán” que también forma parte de Posada Roger, y comienzan labores de nueva construcción y remodelación, para poco a poco, dar paso a un completamente nuevo concepto de hospedaje donde cada una de sus habitaciones ya contaba con su propio baño. Se cambio la estructura original del edificio y se incrementaron servicios que contribuyeron para que también aumentaran las estrellas que representaban su categoría.
En 1998 Rogelio vende su parte a su hermano Federico y se retira, siendo esto el inicio de una nueva época ahora bajo el liderazgo de Federico, quien a partir de ese momento se responsabilizó del manejo del hotel, decidido a mantener y continuar con la tradición de ofrecer siempre un calido servicio, misma que su hermano había iniciado hacia ya más de veinte años.
Posada Roger sigue siendo una empresa familiar, y actualmente es un típico hotel excelentemente ubicado en el centro de la acción con 47 habitaciones, siendo cada una diferente en su estructura y decoración. Cuenta con alberca, amplio asoleadero y restaurante, entre otros servicios y amenidades.
Aspectos como el nombre de “posada”, su puerta principal de herrería, una fuente en el centro de su patio principal, algunas habitaciones alrededor del patio, sus paredes de ladrillo al natural, rincones con pequeños jardines, plantas en grandes macetas de barro, enredaderas de flores, entre otros, son algunos de los elementos que lo impregnan de un ambiente de antigua y fresca hacienda familiar colonial, que al mismo tiempo lo distinguen como un rincón muy mexicano y tradicional en Puerto Vallarta.
Es muy común que algunos turistas después de haber disfrutado de una estadía en tiempos compartidos o en hoteles de gran categoría en áreas como marina y nuevo vallarta, al haber conocido el hotel mientras recorrían el centro de la ciudad, deciden extender sus vacaciones por unos días más y hospedarse en Posada Roger, buscando disfrutar el auténtico sabor del pueblo que el lugar siempre brinda. Posada Roger es un encantador rincón que mantiene el original espíritu Vallartense.
De acuerdo Sonia Elsa García, hija de Federico García y actual gerente del hotel; el medio más eficaz generador de su clientela sigue siendo la recomendación de boca a boca, incluyendo los testimonios de muchos de sus huéspedes que vía Internet también los recomiendan, principalmente por el eficiente servicio y cálido trato recibido, ya que gracias al tamaño del hotel los servicios se brindan de manera personalizada, aspecto que permite una convivencia muy familiar entre colaboradores y huéspedes. A la mayoría de sus clientes se les conoce y se les llama siempre por sus nombres. Dice Sonia Elsa: Algo muy particular es que nuestros clientes siempre aprecian y reconocen la impecable limpieza en nuestras instalaciones, aspecto sobre el cual yo personalmente estoy pendiente de cuidar y mantener.
Trabajar en este hotel de tradición familiar es naturalmente un orgullo para Sonia Elsa, y lo que más le emociona es proyectar y desarrollar nuevas ideas, así como el modificar y remodelar detalles que les permiten cada año, mejorar y mantenerse como un hotel preferido entre un mar de nuevas opciones de hospedaje que se abren en la zona.
